HEY YALL!!! DANIEL HERE AGAIN
Have you been struggling with your posture on ACOUSTIC GUITAR?? Well it may be beacuse you are not holding and siting with it correctly.
The acoustic guitar is shaped as a "FIGURE 8" with groves to place onto your body. It was intentionally designed to fit on a human body.
> Sitting with a guitar
You want to make ensure that you hold the acoustic guitar with both hand at all times. For RIGHT handed player, you want to have the body of the guitar on your right thigh and the neck held in your left hand. For LEFT handed players, this is the opposite - body of the guitar on your left thigh and the neck held in your right hand. After this, you need to put your dominant arm (RIGHT for right-handed players and LEFT for left-handed player) over the body of the guitar to keep it nice and secure. Lean the guitar against your chest so it doesnt go anywhere. Next you use your other hand to hold the neck of the guitar. You want to have a slight upward pitch when holding the neck so that its easy to play chords.
> Standing up with a guitar
In the same way that you sit and play the guitar you want to replicate this while standing up. You may ask, "Daniel, how on earth do I do that". Well you do this by using a guitar strap. The function of a guitar strap is to secure the guitar to your body regardless of wheather you are sitting, standing or walking around...try not to run with a guitar as a beginner 😂. So, you want to adjust the length of the strap so that it is comfortable as you sit down. A good test to know the strap is comfortable is to gently let go of the guitar with your strap on and it stays in place. The final step is to simply stand up with the strap in that position and you can play guitar STANDING. Make sure that the strap is secure at all times to avoid any unforseen accidents.
